Barnardos work with children and families in difficult situations to give them hope. They campaign for child welfare and child protection, and against child poverty. They also provide expertise to professionals working with children.

The Child and Family Agency is responsible for providing support to children and families in the community. This involves Family Support Services. In cases where children are at risk of harm through abuse, Child Protection Social Workers have an important role in providing care, assessment and follow up to those children and their families, through the Fostering and Child Protection Teams.

Children First e-learning Programme


Good Shepherd Cork provides emergency accommodation to women and children in cork city. They provide residential care for teenage girls. They offer supported housing for women transitioning from homelessness. There is a support and advocacy team to provide continued support for women and families who have left homelessness but still need some support. GSS also provide educational and training opportunities vulnerable women.

Cork City Childcare Committee is a partnership which focuses on facilitating and integrating the provision of quality childcare services and facilities. They do this through facilitation, capacity building and the creation of an enabling environment. They are a great resource for any child care questions in Cork City and County, i.e. funding schemes for childcare.

Cuanlee Refuge provides safe and secure accomodation for women and children experiencing domestic abuse. They help women who wish to move on and live independently, free from violence. Staff are availalbe to support women and children during their stay in the refuge.
